As technological advances continue to shape our world, Floyd County needs leadership who can embrace the challenge of change.
In March of 2018 the General Assembly passed SB 407, which mandated that all civil actions filed by an attorney must be initiated electronically, starting January 1, 2019. Floyd County was four months late on that deadline, finally coming into compliance in May of 2019. That, along with the malware attack on the Floyd County court system in late June 2019, has found the Clerk’s office struggling to keep up with the ever-changing digital world.
While physical records have inherent value, the efficiency and accuracy offered by working with a secure digital system will benefit many aspects of Floyd County's court systems. The Clerk of Superior Court needs skills that range the entire spectrum of filing systems and record keeping, from the Dewey Decimal System to Google. As someone who has grown up mastering technology, I feel confident in my ability to take on the responsibility of protecting the records of Floyd County in every form.
